Day Tours from Rome to Florence

I've been looking at doing a day trip from Rome to Florence. Would like to go with a bus tour. I've found one good company but wondered if anyone else had any recommendations. Also interested in Pisa and Tivoli tours if you know of any.

Thanks.

I know you expressed a preference for a bus tour, but you might check out Luca Garrapa at www.hillsandroads.com. He took us on a tour from Rome to Florence that was nothing short of terrific. He can take you to the other destinations as well. He's a driver and guide who is based just outside of Siena. He's frequently recommended by other folks on this board. If cost is an issue, compare Luca's rates with the bus company's. Good luck.

Byrns - Why go by bus? Your can get there in half the time by train ... and give yourself more time there for sightseeing . It's cheaper too

If you still prefer a bus tour all the main bus companies do Florence from Rome - VASTOURS, APPIAN, CARRANI, GREENLINE ...

http://www.romeguide.it/CARRANI/italiana/tour19.htm

(Tour 17)

The same companies also do Tivoli and Pisa tours.

Hope this helps ...

You have to take in account that a train needs 1 1/2 h one way and the bus between 2 1/2 and 3 hours - if there are no traffic jams. And within Florence, the best transportation is your own two feet. You might look for a walking tour within Florence?

Hello byrns, I too would strongly suggest that you take the train to Florence. It is so much faster..the AI autostrada can get so congested. There are walking tours in Florence if you don't want to be on your own.

I believe that SeaUrchin here on Fodor's took a tour to Tivoli from Rome. I am emailing this thread to her so she will see this question of yours. Best regards.

Hi, I used Enjoy Rome tours, they combine Tivoli and Hadrians villa for a nice afternoon.

I wrote about it on my last trip report, something with oh solo mio in the title. Have fun.
