FMT..Great response!! You should patent it..

I would also guess you could engage FMT for a guide and be more than well served and pleased. Give that a big thought.

I understand wanting to see things via a tour instead of trying on your own. As easy as the on your own option can be, lets just say the tour can be even easier to a person. Let someone else worry about getting to the place on time, let them worry about things being unexpectedly closed, etc. If they would like to take a tour, I would book through Viator. If you spend a certain amount you can also get FF miles and they book their tours with Cityrama or whoever. I have not had any bad experiences with them for tours outside of Paris but I have on occasion messed up my own tour when I thought I was prepared but not paying attention to the train stop I needed. To each their own.

The only place I disagree with FMT is to even bother with the SNCF site. The capitianetrain site is very easy to navigate, in English and no worries of being re-routed to Rail Europe. Far less hassle in my opinion.

Saving for my trip this Spring.

Forget an organized tour, get on the train and visit Versailles! It's very easy to reach, and you could spend an entire day at the palace!

For the other days, just relax and enjoy Paris. You could spend a month there and still not see everything!
