Day Tours from Avignon in April

Hi,

I will be in Avignon from April 11th through 17th, by myself and without a car. I will take public tansportation to St. Remy and L'Isle sur la Sorgue, as they are close, but want to take one of the many mini-van tour to other small villages, like Roussillon, Gordes and Fountaine de Vaucluse. But most tours require at least 2 passengers.

My question: Are there likely to be other tourists in Avignon in April? (Hope this isn't too dumb a question to ask!)

Or, is anyone else going to be in Avignon then and interested in taking a tour with me?

Thanks!

Arles - easy, cheap, fast train trip and you do not need a tour van.
Les Baux by bus, also easy and cheap.

Thanks. I am also going to be staying in Arles (and Aix-en-Provence). But some of the towns I am interested in do not have easy public transportation or it takes to long -- like Roussillon and Fontaine de Vaucluse. I will check out Les Baux -- thanks for the tip.,

There is also a bus to the Pont du Gard turn off. If you like to hike a bit, you can go from Pont du Gard along a hiking trail up to St. Bonnet du Gard and board there a Nimes - Avignon bus.
Nimes and Orange can be reached by train and by bus as well.

I stayed in Avignon once without a car, and took a bus to St Remy but that wasn't easy. It took forever and there wasn't a good convenient schedule for the return. Hope it's changed. I just did train trips otherwise (Arles, etc.).

But I think there are always tourists in Avignon, although I do think there will be fewer in April, of course. But there will be some. YOu can only wait and see, I expect they'll get enough to go, if they only need 2.

Part of your time is the week before Easter, you know (which is April 20th), so there are likely more tourists due to the holiday. Also, there are school holidays in France around that time, one zone has holidays from 4/12 to 4/28 (like Paris) but not in Provence AFAIK. So more families might be on holiday in Avignon for spring if their kids are out of school.

If you are going to be staying in Arles anyway, you can take a local bus to Les Baux for only a Euro or two RT. The bus station is right outside the train station. I think it took about 25 minutes and was a nice drive. It ran several times a day. Perfect day trip from Arles.
