day stop over in Copenhagen?
 

We are flying out of St. Petersburg on Aug 11 with a change of planes in either Paris or Copenhagen. We have been to Paris but never Copenhagen. Would it be worth our time to lay over there for a day and a half before heading back to the states? We would be looking for something easier than a day and a half in Paris would be. How difficult is it to get from the airport to the city? Or, should we worry about the Icelandic volcano and go thru Paris? Could we see a lot of Copenhagen in a full day? Thanks for your help. IMO, this is a very good idea. Copenhagen is a beautiful city with lots of historic architecture and many attractions. Downtown is walkable and quite compact. You will see a lot in a day, depending on your interests.

From the airport, you can take the train into downtown. The train ride takes 13 minutes.

I'm searching Copenhagen for our trip, and there is a train, a metro line, and buses to the city - you can buy a 24-hr pass to cover them, not sure if the train is included, but buses and metro yes, and also water buses.

Most of the posters on different websites recommend Tivoli and canal tours. And there is lots of info everywhere. I asked on Visit Copenhagen, and they mailed me a city map with attractions marked on it.

The airport train into the city is easy and fast.Make sure you visit Nyhaven and take a canal tour.

Sure it would be worth your time. It's a very nice, compact city, and you could have a very pleasant time there (and leave grateful that you don't have to spend any more time than necessary paying the very expensive prices there).

If the weather is nice, a ride on the canals and an evening in Tivoli would be delightful. Instead of the guided canal cruise, you can take a waterbus, pay less, and get on and off where you want to. http://www.canaltours.com/dct/en

How many stops does the bus make & is it easy to carry on luggage?

Take the metro. No steps at all. Stops at Christianshavn, Kongens Nytorv and Nørreport Station. So you should look for accommodation near one of these stations.
