I need some advice. I've been to London twice before, but not since 1997. I'll be in London for a day (stopover) and would love some good advice as to how I can spend my day. What are some good shopping areas where I can get a feel for the city, what are some good attractions to visit (I've already been to Tower of London, Shakespeare's Theater, V&A, etc.). I don't need dinner recommendations, but a lunch recommendation would be great! Also, I'm a big Madonna fan -- does anyonoe know what area she lives in? I'd love to walk around there.

For shopping, the good stuff is centered at Oxford Circus, where you can go east or west on Oxford Street, or south on Regent Street. There's a lot of history along the route of the #15 bus from Marble Arch to the Tower, and if you want the best fish and chips in London for lunch, the North Sea Fish Restaurant is the place. It's just east of Tavistock Square near Euston Station.

The map suggests you take a train from London Waterloo at 20 minutes past each hour (15 on Sundays) for 82 minutes to Salisbury, then find a bus, but you should take advice from a tourist office, such as that on Lower Regent Street in London, to set times and bus numbers.
