Day in Dublin with Private Guide
 

We are sailing on the Princess Caribbean 8/12~24 with a stop in Dublin . There are four of us who would like a private tour specified to our desires. Anyone have a favorite guide? As well, since we are first time visitors and have waited a little late to find someone to guide us, what are some recommendations that we could manage on our own if necessary. Our desires are few, Guinness Brewery, Jameson Distillery, The Brazen Head and just hitting a couple of pubs before we head back to the ship.

Also, does anyone know if the ship actually docks in Dublin and if not how far and what type transportation would be available to get us close to where we'd need to be?

If so, you are in Dublin on August 15th?

A simple google search would point you to Dublin port site that maintains dock schedule. http://www.dublinport.ie/tourism/cruise-liners/

If you then go to the cruise boats schedule, http://www.dublinport.ie/information...cruise-liners/,
you will find that August 15 Caribbean Princes, "15/08/2016 09:00" does not have the dock assigned yet. However if you look at the earlier port date of the same ship on July 10th, "10/07/2016 06:30" you see "Ocean Pier 33". You ship would probably use "Ocean Pier 33" or "Cruise Pier 18". 08:00 to 09:30 PM is what I have found for your port of call.

I have been to Dublin a lot so would feel totally comfortable grabbing a taxi from the pier and heading into town. You could go with the hop on hop off bus for the day and get a taste of everything. I would pre book tickets for Guinness and you could just have the taxi drop you there.

Well worth it, nice place to eat on one of the floors, gravity bar is so great.

Jameson is ok but the whole bar is well worth a stop, do Brazen Head for lunch on your way to Smithfield for Jameson.

Last post, it might be 10am to 8pm, so figure getting back to the boat by 7, that still gives you 8 hours to explore. Look over your options. Many times they dock early so be ready to go. I live very close to a port in the states and I know the cruise tours are pricey and not that great. I think going on your own or a private tour would be much better and they will get you back in time.

I was thinking about booking the same cruise with Princess as well. I wasn't sure if I wanted to see Ireland by land for the first time or do the British Isle cruise and see a few places. I'd be curious to see how you liked it when you get back.
