Pal, please STOP talking about places you have NOT BEEN for ten years.

Blackpool is tacky, grubby and releases from their publicity machine will obviously only promote the town without mentioning the awful bits. There are lots of awful bits and I was last there 2 months ago.

Perhaps Stockport might be a better visit.

Blackpool is truly an awful place. Nobody I know has a good word to say for it.

If you want a seaside town try Southport instead. Much nicer.

Surprised no one has mentioned Chester. Conwy is a good base for north Wales if you don't have a car. I based in Worcester a couple of years back, visiting Gloucester and Hereford, but I was doing cathedrals.

Unless you going for the illuminations in the autumn Blackpool is best ignored. And arguably even then. People used to go to Blackpool because they didn't have a lot of choice, g** knows why they go now.
