Date night ideas in Paris
 

My husband and I have a babysitter for two nights next week on Wednesday and Friday. We have both been to Paris before multiple times and love food wine and music. Can anyone recommend a somewhat under that radar spot to enjoy a couple of evenings. We are staying in the 3rd but will go anywhere. We are both adventurous eaters but perhaps the food may take a back seat to atmosphere. Thanks for sharing any advice.

I don't know any under the radar places, if a place is good, it will be known about.

Have you thought of a nice jazz club? They have several in Paris. Sunset has some shows that sound promising on those dates (not crazy about New Morning or Duc des Lombards)

I don't know any restaurants with music, there might be some.

One place I thought always looked nice for a date night was the jazz piano bar (Cafe Laurent) in the HOtel d'Aubusson in St Germain. It's late, but that's probably what I would do, if I could get a reservation. They have a trio both Wed and Fri.

Maybe a private dining salon at Laperouse, if you want to put down some serious coin! The Ritz has reopened and might be worth a drink at Hemingways bar.

Maybe a classical concert in Saint-Chapelle? It's with reasonable price and a stunning chapelle interior (stained glass). Go to the soonest concert during the day, you can buy tickets at the bar next to it. Look in advance for the concert program.

After that, you may stroll along the Seine river, and eat at Paradis du Fruit nearby at 2 Place Saint Michel, it has some combination menu with really fresh vegetables and fruits (the seafood and meats are like other restaurants, but the green things are of high quality, as the name of the place suggests). The best is that you may choose to sit next to a window on 2nd floor, it has a view on Notre Dame de Paris.

At least that's what I did last time I strolled, and I was happy with my choice.

I would try to eat early enough to end my evening on the observation deck at the Tour Montparnasse, where all Paris is spread out below you.

It's open until 10:30 on weekdays, 11:00 on weekends at this time of year with the last elevator half an hour before closing.

It's so funny. I gave the listings for both wednesday and friday next week: that's what's on for those days! There may be an impromptu jazz thing they miss, but l'officiel des spectacles never misses much. If the site doesn't list a "concert in ste chappelle", it isn't there!

I loved le lapin agile, on a rec from above poster.
The oldest 'club' in Paris, very small, very intimate, with a bunch of guys of all ages singing all kind of old french songs.
But if you don't speak any french, you'll get bored pretty fast.

I've been hearing about the Lapin Agile, and its exterieur looked nice the last time I was in Monmartre, but I don't know how its atmosphere is in real. I'll go there next time.

I absolutely love Au Lapin Agile, but it is true that if you don't speak/understand French much of it will be lost on you. It also helps to know some old French drinking songs.

These are fantastic ideas. That kind you all! Yes, I speak French but my husband does not, so perhaps Au Lapin Agile may be lost on him. I will let you know where we end up.

Just a quick update. Courtesy of your suggestions, we had two lovely date nights in Paris.

Per the listings for Wednesday I was excited to discover that the former lead singer for Spandau Ballet was doing a solo show at a small theater called the Alhambra. For 15 euro it was an incredible show and really intimate venue. I had seen Tony Hadley play in Chicago a few years back, but this time he had a five piece band and the acoustics were outstanding.

On Friday, we made it to the Le Petite Journal. What a fantastic experience! We did not have a reservation but were still able to get a spot close the 'stage'. The High Society jazz band was the act that night and they were a world of fun. Great camaraderie interacting with the other guests as well.
