Danube River cruises--best travel months

We are interested in a Danube river cruise with warm, pleasant weather(70-80 F daytime) with as little chance of rain as possible. What months have best chance of little rain and pleasant weather for this type of cruise. Do you have any suggestions for a particular cruise company? Thanks for your help.

I've only been on the Christmas cruise, but I absolutely loved it. As for a company, I and many friends swear by Grand Circle Tours. You will get negative comments about that company, but don't let them put you off--my cruise couldn't have been better.

May and June, though you will always have a chance of rain.

Is it substantially wetter in May and June than in September? Also, has anyone used Avalon or Amadeus and do u have any feedback on them? Thanks again.

Since you posted in Austria, I thought you were talking of one of the day cruises on the Austrian Donau. The tours that go country to country...well my sister did one and I think they got a whirlwind day tour of Vienna (we rescued her from the bus and took her out for a good night of food and drink since we were staying there), but if that's your thing, Underhill is right; post under cruises.

Rick Stevers has a phrase book and in the back he has a table of average weather conditions in Munich, Rome, and Paris. Of course, it is just for an average year.

July and August are the warmest months in Munich with highs around mid-seventies. Also faily wet with just 15 rainless days. The driest months are March and Oktober with 18 rainless days, but highs in the 40s and 50s.

I was in Germany (Rothenburg) a few years (August) ago when the temp was in the mid-eighties, with very high humidity; you don't want that! On the other hand, I have been in Bavaria about 4 weeks in Aug/Sept in this century, and it didn't rain a single day.

Whirlwind city tours appeal to some peopoe on cruises, but they're not obligatory. Our Christmas cruise had only a short tour of Vienna on the way to the huge Christmas market by the town hall.
