Danube Budapest to Vienna.
Husband and I travelling through Turkey and Romania in September. We would like to get to Vienna by boat that is not an expensive cruise type 'package', from Hungary once we leave Romania. Does anyone know of a boat owner that would be interested in a short river cruise/ delivery that would take us from point A in Hungary to point B in Vienna beginning of October?

Thanks Elberko--the hydrofoil would have been perfect. But it closes Sept. 30 and we won't be there until probably Oct 3rd. Maybe there will be other boats or ferries that we can find once we get there.

If I am remembering correctly, people often don't find the hydrofoil trip enjoyable--perhaps it would be even less enjoyable in October. I suspect it's not scenic--the Rhine is a major shipping route and scenic in limited areas.

Here's a thread from a few years ago. Sadly, molker doesn't seem to post any longer--a great source of info.

The Danube is perfectly lovely to see the land from and apart from just a few industrial points the river is great. I would think the key issues is less demand in the winter and the river gets pretty full (of water) and fast with a lot of tree/rubble in it. Still September it is still fine so the issue must be lack of customers
