Dances In Caves?

It seems like in the back of my memory I recall someone telling me about a nightclub or bar in a cave along the Almafi Coast. I think there is dancing, etc. Anyone know <BR>about? Also what age of people go there? We are not youngsters but still hip.

Dear Ruth, I have heard about it too, but couldn't tell you any more. I think it is a jazz club in a cave outside of Positano.

On our way back to Positano following a daytrip to Ravello we stopped at the Africana nightclub. It was pretty amusing – it is built into a grotto, with clear tiles in the floor so that you can see the fish swimming around below. You take an elevator down into it. Unfortunately there were only about a dozen people there that night (a couple of friendly American backpacker guys who were college age, we two thirtysomething American women, and the rest looked to be other European tourist couples in their 20s-40s), so we didn't stay long. There was some modest cover charge. There was a DJ but the place was so empty that noone was dancing. Very friendly parking attendant and bartenders (one gave us free drinks to entice us to stay a little longer). The decor is pretty campy, but in a fun way. I wouldn't go out of my way for it...
