Day trip car rental from Parsons Green/Fulham

Hi everyone. Looking for suggestions from the Fodor's experts.

We arrive in London early on the 21st of May. We are taking the tube to the Fulham/Parsons Green area where we'll be staying. We wanted to rent a car for a day trip out to Stonehenge and to see one or two castles in the same day. We are hoping there's a way we can rent a car for just one day. Our problem is that we leave from London to Paris the morning of May 25th. Given the limited hours of rental car companies on Saturdays and closures on Sundays, I'm puzzled as to how we can pull this off. Any creative solutions? Thanks!

Take the tube to LHR and rent your car there.

Or take the District Line towards Upminster or Tower Hill from Parsons Green and get off at Victoria. At Victoria Coach station, about a 5 min. walk down Buckingham Palace Rd from there, are some rental car outfits. Hertz has quite good opening hours during the weekend:

Honestly though, driving from Victoria through SW London to Salisbury/stonehenge would not be my choice.

...but this is not about you, but c1thom.

Seriously: LHR is on the way to Salisbury, so is a legitimate suggestion.
I mentioned the Victoria location because sometimes there are surcharges for airport pick-ups and drop-offs. And driving out from Victoria does not involve any intellectually challenging city navigation - drive up a couple of blocks to Hyde Park Corner and turn left onto Brompton Road (A4) via Knightsbridge, which after Chsiswick eventually turns into the M4. Not too bad, I'd think.
But I admit, that one could save some time picking up the car at LHR.

jeeze -- Nope - it is not about me. I could easily drive that route. But if I was a first-timer, or even infrequent driver in the UK, driving from Victoria would not be my choice.

I guess for the sticklers I should have posted >> . . . If you are unfamiliar w/driving in London, driving from Victoria through SW London to Salisbury/stonehenge would not be my choice.<<

janisj, there was some irony that probably did not transport too well.
I thought that I consider your advice, as ususal, very sensible had become clear when I conceded that LHR is on the way to Salisbury thus implying renting out there would at least be time-saving.
I just wanted to mention the other option as surely having options in life is always good.
