D-Day tours from Caen museum
 

Considering the half-day tour offered on the museum Web site. One post in an earlier string rated it as so-so and a bit rushed. Would appreciate other opinions. Most of the highly recommended guides are already booked on the date we must do this. We do want a guided tour. Thank you!

we left from Bayeux, but they also picked up a few people from Caen before they got us.

The 1/2 day tour was quick, but well worth the money and was all the time we had.

He's originally of Dutch descent and the pictures that he shares are from non-US history books. My favorite was Rommel inspecting the defenses on the Atlantic coast. Something which you would never see in US history books -

Thank you both for the advice. Unfortunately, Roel is booked on all three of the half-days our guests can do this. Will cross my fingers, phone D-Day tours and ask for Vincent. If this does not work, has anyone used Taxis du Bessin? One Web reference suggests they do guiding as well as transporation to the D-Day sites. Yikes! Should have organized this sooner.

If you are looking for a tour of the Canadian sites in Normandy, Battlebus is a well recommended operator, and one of their tours is a full day of the Canadian sector: http://www.battlebus.fr/tours/page6.html


I doubt that you will find any tours based in France that include both Juno and Vimy (they are quite distant from each other), but there are many British companies that include Vimy on their tours of the First World War battlefields. There are guides at the Vimy Visitor Centre who give tours of the tunnels there. While in the area, you should also visit Beaumont-Hamel, where there is also a Visitor Centre with tours of the trenches.

Thanks everyone. I booked an afternoon tour from Bayeux with Normandy Sigthseeing tours. This is the D-Day tours company that Kimncris suggested. Battlebus and Victory tours look great, but neither was available for a half day on the one date our guests could do this, the day after their arrival in France. We know that a full day would be better if possible. We may try one of the other companies' full day tours ourselves one day.
