D-day tours
I was thinking of taking the overnight fery from Portsmouth to Caen and then taking a D-day tour. Questions?
Ferry arrives at 7:15 am (on time?) and tour would start at 8:30 am in Bayeux. How do I get from the ferry dock to Bayeux? Anyone ever taken a D-day with Overlord tours? How far is the Memorial musuem from the train station? Hotel in Caen close to either memorial museum or train station? |
If you weren't rushed, you could take a taxi from the ferry port to Caen and a train from there to Bayeux. But you'd have to catch the 07:32 train in order to get to Bayeux before the tour departs--and you have no chance of making it.
You'd have to take a taxi directly from the ferry port to Bayeux. According to www.viamichelin.com, it's a 35-minute drive. |
Is there anyway to have it waiting for me?

Hello BM:
Easy. Call Roel at Victory Tours and ask him to pick you up in Caen for a personal tour. You'll never forget it. Gradyghost |
Here is a quote from the Brittany Ferries site:
"There are usually taxis waiting outside the terminal for ship arrivals and departures. If there are no taxis, the tourist information desk can call a taxi for you." |

The museum is in the town of Caen. It is excellent. We took a tour through the museum which was quite good. Overall, visiting the beaches and the museum was a fantastic day.
