What's your idea of small, also?

I have stayed at the Maximilian Hotel .. its a smaller hotel on a quiet street and just a few minutes walk to the sites in Old Town. Breakfast is included in the rates.
I found it to be a very comfortable place to stay It was then part of a European group of hotels called Golden Tulip, but does not feel or look like a chain hotel. It may still be part of that group. There may be added discounts by looking at Golden Tulip's site |
Thx. Smaller hotel I guess 25-40 rooms. Price range 100-150 usd. Thanks

I stayed at the Maximillian also, and it is bigger than that, it has about 70 rooms. I consider a hotel small if it is up to maybe 100 rooms, but some people think only 10-25 is small, and others anything but the huge 500 plus ones. I don't really like the way the Maximillian renovated to be super modern now (as a lot of hotels), I really liked it the way it was in the beginning when it had more traditional style furniture, so I moved to the Pariz last time. I love that hotel, but it's larger and not cheap. The Maximillian is reasonable for a 4* hotel (about 150 euro per double room, maybe). I did really like the location, also, It's probably not want you want if you want a small B&Bish type place, and is usually more than US$150.
Rates are going to vary by season, possibly a lot in some hotels, so hard to say. Rooms may be cheaper in August, for example, I know they are at the Pariz. I'll assume you mean regular season. There is one hotel right near the Maximillian which is more like what you had in mind, I almost stayed there last time but didn't. It is the Casa Marcello, and only has about 32 rooms and is more traditonal style. It really is a good location. Even though a 4* hotel, its rates are only about 110 euro a night for a double. http://www.casa-marcello.cz/en/ I haven't stayed here but know it is a popular traditional choice, the CLoister Inn which is in Old Town and closer to the river. It has doubles for only around 100 euro or less http://www.cloister-inn.com/ Now it also has about 75 rooms, but is cheaper than the Maximilian and not as modern in style. The Betlem club may be what you envisioned, more of a B&Bish place, not as glamorous. It is over near the Cloister Inn, also. http://www.betlemclub.cz/en/ But its rooms seem to cost more than Cloister Inn (about 125 euro) and I don't think it's as nice. I think the Cloister Inn is a bit better location, also, closer to a metro or tram stop. There are plenty of good hotels in Prague in your price range, though, I just have only stayed in a couple so don't know them all. YOu can search booking.com or venere.com to get prices and reviews on those. |
Go here: http://www.avehotels.cz/en/ We stayed at The Bishop's House. Liked the location - less than a block from the Charles Bridge.
Make sure you stay in the Prague 1 zone. |
BigRuss mentions the Ave group of hotels and I can highly reccomemnd them.i usually stay at the Denisa near Dejvicka (going there today) but I too would recommend somewhere in the city center for a first time visitor
