cyprus - where to stay

Hi, we will be traveling to Cyprus in February for 7-10 days (we are not beach people and like cool weather). We are interested in pretty villages, ancient sites and UNESCO sites. Where should we base ourselves? Should we stay in two different places to reduce driving times each day?
thank you,

Ancient Sites
1. Curium near Limassol
2. Paphos, Tomb of the Kings (UNESCO) and the mosaics near the harbour
3. Amathus in Limassol
4. Limassol Castle, Old Limassol Pantobouleion (market)
5. Choirokoitia which is ancient neolithic settlements
6. interesting caves & tombs in the east
7. Seacaves at St Georges nr Paphos, nice church there too

Pretty Villages
1. Kathikas
2. Peyia
3. Lysos
4. Lofou
5. Lefkara
6. Kakopetria & Pelendri
7. Platres (might be snow in Troodos at this time of year)
8. Pomos and many others, these are just off the top of my head

Link to the UNESCO Sites
There are interesting buildings in Pafos too, at the main town not the harbour area.

Limassol Library building is beautiful
St Lazarus Church Larnaca
Sultan Tekke Larnaca, very close to the airport if you have time to burn

Kykkos Monastery

Akamas national park

These are all in the south, there are other sites in the north eg Salamis and Famagusta which is a walled city, Kyrenia is pretty town with harbour.

Limassol is a good base as it is in the middle of the island on the coast. Distances are not great but some roads esp in the mountains take along time eg if you drive from Paphos to Pomos via the mountains. Or be based in Paphos some of the time and then somewhere in the east for the rest of the time.

The west is much nicer than the east.

Latsi is lovely (although I believe it may be somewhat more developed than when I was last there). Like Odin, I think Kathikas and Peyia are pretty.

I've stayed here a couple of times. Not the most fabulous accommodation but well located and nicely serviced.

I've stayed on my own in January, and it was (once I found the switch) warm enough
