Cyprus in Winter?

Just curious to hear whether people would consider holidaying in Cyprus in the middle of winter? I'm talking December/January time.

Would it have much to offer the tourist at this time of year or is it really just geared up for Summer visitors?

The "kiss me quick" areas are pretty much dead but the walking is still there and the better restaurants are doing fine. Went in Novemeber to the west and NW coast and found the place easy to enjoy with no queues.

Many people prefer the 'off season' wherever they go. That depends on the person and their interests.

So the answer to your question is Yes people holiday their in winter and it has a lot to offer those who are not just interested in what the typical package tourist is interested in during the summer.

Cyprus has always been a winter sun destination. The summer heat and tourists have gone, but the weather can be very pleasant, at the moment about 70F during the day and about 55F at night, at the coastal areas. Inland in the mountains there will be snow. There will be some much needed rain, maybe even storm or two. The landscape changes to green from the dry baked landscape of the summer. Many prefer out of season because the summer can be unbearably hot. The tourist traps will be closed, which is never a bad thing but the antiquities/archaelogical sites are open all year round. Locals love to eat out, so you will find plenty of places to eat in the main towns at least.

We've been to Cyprus in January/February and found it very pleasant during the day down on the coast. Evenings are just a bit too chilly to eat outside. The snow was quite thick up in the Troodos mountains and the road through Platres was negotiable with care.

However, the place is geared up for year round visitors and I would recommend it.
