Cycling Perthshire

Dear Fodorites,

Can anyone suggest a place to rent a bicycle for the day out of Perth? I want to take a 1-2 day excursion from Edinburgh to the Perth/Perthshire region to do some cycling. I am picking Perth as a base for my cycling adventure because of its accessibility to the train from Edinburgh and the fact it looks like a beautiful city to explore.
However, if anyone can recommend another town (near better cycling perhaps) that I could base out of I'd be open to suggestions. I just need to be able to get there by train. I would like to see Perth city, if even for a few hours on my way back to Edinburgh though.

Also, does anyone know if cycling rental shops have lockers. I'll have a large backpack and it will be cumbersome to have with me on a bike. Thanks!

Thanks!

I have no personal knowledge of this topic, but I did a search and came up with a few websites that might be helpful:

http://www.cyclescotland.co.uk/1rentals.htm

Hopefully, these will be of some help to you.

I was struggling with this one, and very upset that I couldn't find an answer in my home town for you. But....

If you have a look at

(Sorry- error in posting)

you will find a very useful leaflet on the subject together with the address and phone number for

Perth City Cycles Ltd, 42 Princes Street, Perth. Tel 01738 639346
who will hire you a bike.

If you have been looking and not finding, this may be a matter for "two nations divided by a single language".

We call it hire, where you call it rental.
