Cycling Passau to Vienna

We are planning a cycling trip from Passau to Vienna in mid September with hf holidays. Anyone one had any experience with the route or the company?

Is this an area that was affected by the recent floods?

The area around Passau is affected at this moment. But the peak has already been reached this evening. >9 meters. But it will only last one week max., when you cycle have a look at all the houses close to the river, you will see where the water has been.
They are doing this every 2 years now...

Most of the Danube on your route is now under a high water alert, but as the prior poster said this should pass before your trip. No bad damage is expected.
Better weather today, sunny with no rain.
This is a great trip along the river . Paths for most of the trip are dedicated solely for bikes and many thousands do this trip.
Many restaurants, great views, and many places to stop for wine .
The towns along the route are good to stop and look at the old buildings and interesting things.
Many companies arrange tours, moving your bags to the next nights destination.
You will ride through many vineyards and may see some grape harvesting in progres.
I do not know the company you mention.

Operaman , who is an expert on cycling and this route can perhaps post more info.

I waas on the Danube today between Krems and Spitz.
High water has passed by days ago- no damage to be seen anywhere. Many bikers on the paths in sunny, warm weather.
Enjoy your trip!

Hello;
I have a site you can look at that details one of our trips from Linz to Wien: http://alexstarke.tripod.com/
You really don't need a tour group to make your journey; we brought our panniers and bar bags from the home and did the whole thing ourselves...the only way to do it! We rented our bikes in Wien and took them up by train to Linz and then biked back through many beautiful villages. Each village or town we stopped at is shown on our website along with the B&B we stayed at. Either way you do it you will have a great trip! When you get to Wien check out Pedalpower over by the Prater and get a Bikeline map of the Danube from them. Even if you have already completed your trip it is an excellent source for reference when you get home and plan for another trip through this wonderful area. You can also rent bikes from Rick while there and do one of his biking tours of Wien...highly recommended for this beautiful and historic city.
Hello: Molker, glad to hear all is well over there. I miss your hospitality and your beautiful country. I'll write you soon!
