Cycling in Denmark
Hello,
I will be heading to Denmark in a couple of weeks and had planned on joining up with a group bicycle trip for part of my holiday. Due to some scheduling conflicts, the other members cancelled so I am the only one left in the group (no guide either)! I've decided to go ahead with it anyway.
I am wondering if anyone else has cycled in Denmark. I am guessing it is fairly safe for a single girl to do, but would like some feedback/advice/reassurance. I think my route will take me mostly through Central Jylland and a bit of Fyn. Thanks!

Hi from Denmark. My family has been here for one week and have another week left.
I am not an expert, but I can tell you that the cyclists are everywhere. They are almost more common than cars.
I think it is very safe to bicyce anywhere in Denmark. For example, my cousin allows his children, aged 10 and 13 to ride their bikes to school into Copenhagen, but in separate areas,by themselves. It is at least a half hour ride. I don't think I would allow my children to do this in the US.
Sorry I couldn't be more help, but I don't think you will have any trouble. Have fun and be prepared for rain. It is the worst summer they have had in 25 years!

Thanks Lisale! Any info is more than I have, so I really appreciate it. Curious, are there helmet laws there like there are in the US? Is it only tourists that wear helmets?
I hope you & your family enjoy the rest of your trip...even with the rain!

Hi. You might want to get a copy of Lonely Planet Denmark. There is a section on cycling. It doesn't say anything about helmets. When I lived there ten years ago, I never saw anyone in a helmet. Although, I never saw anyone in the US in one back then, either.
I think you should be safe as a single female. There doesn't still seem to be much crime there (I check the news every few days). Use common sense, but you probably won't be seen in the same light as you would traveling through some other European nations as a single woman.
