CYBER-CAFES--How? Where? When?
 

I am interested in knowing how to send and receive e-mail messages while in Europe. does anyone know of how to get a multi-listing of cyber-cafes? How expensive are they? What preparations are needed to expedite their use in foreign countries? Any pit-falls that should be avoided? Is there a better way to send and recieve messages when one is off and running throughout the continent without a pre-arranged itinerary????

There are internet cafes in most major cities. You might try an alta vista or yahoo search to see if there is a list. The only one I actually used in out trip to Eastern Europe was, if you can believe it, Skopje, Macedonia. At some cafes you can set up an temporary email account. I know there is an internet cafe in Prague and Budapest for sure. I'll be interested in the responses you get too!

More... the prices seemed reasonable by our standards, but, at least in Eastern Europe, access is very expensive for them. The best thing to do is to telnet back to your own email server if you have one and use your own email address.

Posting to bring this to the attention of the person asking about cybercafes in Barcelona!

cybercafes are located in all major cities
in europe you can locate them most easily by looking in the phone book of the hotel you are staying or ask the tourist office in that city
they are open like regular restaurant hours
they actual in most cases double as a restaurant they are closed between meals and they have siesta where applicable. it costs in rome $5 for 1 hr. of internet usage. they are usually located in the section of town where young people live
