Cute, Cute Paris Map

I found this is local Target store today. Below are a couple snapshots that I took along with the Target url online for it.

I sent both to many friends earlier and many have replied that they have called their local Target checking for availability and they are off to Target today. It is 18" X 18".

Target may wonder what happened!!

Joan, my good sport of a husband gamely trotted off to Target to look for the memo boards. I knew they were in stock because I checked the website to check if our local store had them. He got not one, but two (that was all they had) - one for me, the other for my college-bound daughter for her dormitory.

You are right - they are definitely cute, and not kitschy at all. Thanks for the heads up!

Another friend (grandmere) took her granddaughter to Paris last year. She is going to get one so they can work together with some push pins for all the places they visited together. It shows all major places on the map and has a hanging fastener on back. I hung mine yesterday. It is cute.

Joan,

Hope you know that was just a gentle dig. Couldn't resist.

I have a similar board in blue with white banding that I bought at a Christmas Tree store years ago. Wish I could get the one from Target.

Catinjoetown,

Do yhou have any friends from the US heading your way? You can ask them to pick one or two up for you. Easy for them to travel with.

I will not be in Paris til Nov..I could bring one..that would force you to make a trip to Paris to pick it up!!

Joan,

That is very kind of you. With all the construction going on, a planned trip to Paris in March had to be postponed to September, when I'll go up with a good friend who will be over from the States. My husband is happy to stay here. However, I couldn't justify coming up again in November, as much as I would like to.

Would one fit flat in a suitcase? In the photos they look like my slightly padded plain blue version, which wouldn't fold.

I have several friends coming over so will add that to the request list, which isn't too extensive, I can find most of what I want, and certainly all that I need, here. At a late age, I am learning to better distinguish between wants and needs.

Thanks again.

Just checked, it's only 18" x 18"--this want has now become a need!

Catinjoetown,

I was about to send you the dimensions..it is on 1/4" thick, too.

Better tell your friend to go pick up now, while they are in stock..If they call the local store the whatever they call it number is:
074122175..be sure to tell them what it looks like..an 18" x 18" Paris map and is in the Home pictures dept. not cards etc....I tell you all this because of my experiences here!!

Good luck with it..you may want more than one..Christmas will be just around the corner!!

goldwyn,

I just checked it and it is just to edge of 12th on the east side.

It was not made to be used as a map of Paris, but as a wall whatever of Paris..guess they just picked a size and then put a portion of it on it...too bad..no 11th! It is cute...

Just a warning..
If you plan to stick "pins" in this thing, plan on a hammer. Not sure what it's on, but it's not a cork type backing.

(Opps hit submit too soon)

However it does have my hotel in the 14th on it. Says it's a Soitel which means it's based on a map that's several years old as it's been a Marriott for several years.

I had to run out and get one with no where to hang it, until DH said," hang in the closet; everytime we go in we will remember where we are going (May) and where we have been! (when end of May rolls around)"

I give him points for creativity!

Thanks Joan for the heads up; there were a few here if anyone wants met to get them one!

schnauzer,

Isn't there a GTG when you are in Paris this summer? Perhaps you can ask someone who will also be there about picking one up for you? They take up no space for travel....
