Customs & Coffee Beans & Ham
I´m in Spain, & love the coffee and ham. Can I bring whole roasted coffee beans, and vacuum (spelling?) packed ham through US customs? Thanks for any advice.
|
Coffee beans are okay but definitely not the ham, vacuum packed or not. And they have beagle dogs to sniff it out! Don't waste your money on the ham.

I would look at the US or UK customs site, depending on where you are from. Regulations on meat importation for personal use have changed.

"Regulations on meat importation for personal use have changed"? Since when? Not in the good old US of A...

No ham for USA travel.don't belive them if they tell you it's ok at the airport shops, it's not ok and that same beagle is waiting yes (cute though)..
|
Def no ham! I saw this little customs beagle at jfklast year bust some woman waiting for her luggage. She had a salami. He just was sniffin around and then took a seat next to her carryon - salami gone!

Thanks. Darn, & I helped train one of those pups. When I arrived from Amsterdam once, a customs person asked me if she could put a meat product in my bag, and then a beagle would come out & see if he could find it. He did. Well, coffee it is, then. Thanks again, and bye.

cheapalice,
In madrid, I strongly recommend "La Mexicana" at Calle Preciados 27, near Puerta del Sol. http://www.lamexicana.es/index.php?/en/Products |
Is it possible to bring a ham from the USA to Belgium? Anybody know anything about this? I have family over there who just can't get enough of our whole virginia smoked ham!
Thanks! |
"who just can't get enough of our whole virginia smoked ham" Are you serious? This must be a joke...

No meat products, period--and that includes pet foods, as we found out the hard way. Even something that looks like a meat product will be confiscated, as you can't expect the folks at Agricultural Inspection (not Customs) to read labels in foreign languages.
