Currently in Munich one more..
question...
Is there a dicount store similar to Wal-mart/Target? Preferably near Dachau area? Suggestions for casual dinner nice place to stop between Dachau and airport? THANKS!! |
At Euroindustriepark Munich, there are two "real - Markt" (Maria-Probst-Str. 6) formerly "Wal-Mart" and at Margot-Kalinke-Straße 6. You'll also find a Metro store (like Sams club). There are also furniture :D stores, an electronics store, Munichs biggest brothel and a McDonalds right in front of "real".
http://www.real.de/ Easier to reach by car from Dachau is Marktkauf in Unterföhring. But it's not that big. http://www.marktkauf.de/ If you buy the electric chocolate fountain or the hot dog maker, don't forget that you'll need a transformer for those gadgets. ;-) |
The closest mall from Dachau is OEZ (Olympia-Shopping-Center), but it's not that big. It's in Moosach, Pelkovenstr.
It's a nice mall anyway. Small food court, but good food. |
Logos0999,
Thank you so much for the information you have shared with me on all of my posts! I greatly appreciate it! I was hoping to find a discount store that I could purchase souviners at a good price like childrens books, t-shirts for my kids, unusual snacks that we do not have at home etc. I have found at other destinations that I can find great deals in a store like that as opposed to the usual tourist shops. With that in mind do you have a recomendation? I assume you live here? THANKS AGAIN!!!! |
If you still there on Friday, at Karlsfelder See (very close B471), the Karlsfelder Seefest will start. Ompah Bands, a beer tent, Schnultzen-Music. The parade will be held at 2pm on Saturday.
http://www.siedlerbund.de/oberbayern...eldnord/on8981 You shouldn't miss the Sunday morning boxing match, if you want to get an idea of the "Bavarian way of living" :D. However this is next week, this Sunday, there'll be a morning catholic mass. ;-) Gives some impression into real life fests with real people opposed to Oktoberfest. Prost! |

Your best chance would be the OEZ, there's quite a variety of smaller stores there, not just the mass produced stuff that is the same all over the world. For food keep it simple, any Aldi or Lidl has the typical!! German selection (Sometimes the labels differ). If you leave the OEZ through the "Wöhrl" exit at first floor and turn left after about 100m you'll find a Lidl. |
The Hugenbubel bookstore is at the other (eastern) end of the mall. Bus #143 connects eastern and western entrance.

Also check the flea market calendar.
The best source for local souvenirs. :-). http://www.flohmarkt-seite.de/ Yes, sometimes I think I'm the last native person in this town ;-) |
