Currency conversion-historical

This may be a little OT, but I need to find some historical currency conversion information & hope someone here knows a source. People at this site have such a wealth of knowledge! Need to find info on how the lire and dollar compared in value in the 1950s at certain specific times. Can anyone help? Thanks!

Here's a link to a table which goes back to 1948:

Neopolitan, thank you so much! That's exactly what I needed!

You're very welcome.

There's something wrong with the conversion. It is only after de Gaulle came to power in 1958 that the French franc equivalent to the dollar was in a single digit. Before that it was more like 350 francs to the dollar.

Michael:

Good point. The old franc had two noughts chopped off on Jan 1 1960. Some of us still haven't quite got used to these new fangled francs, so when we see a bill for 1,000 in France our first thought is still that it's about a quid.

But the academic who's produced this chart DOES adjust for the remonetisation of the Finmark on 1/1/63.

Wonder why?
