Currency Conversion
I don't know if this is a silly question or not, but here goes. I booked all our hotels for our trip about 2 months ago. When I pay, will I owe the going rate for conversion from US dollar to pound when I booked the hotels or will I be charged the current rate? I am hoping for the current rate because it's better than it was 2 months ago. Thanks

Unless you've pre-paid the hotel rooms you will get the current rate of exchange from your credit cards/travels checks/debit etc...

Thanks. I haven't prepaid anything, so hopefully we'll get the going rate.

If you are concerned about rates you need to buy your currency now to lock in your budget. That way you do not worry about rates changing for the worse. But I do not think that will happen. You will be charged whatever the rate is on the day you pay, by cash or credit card.

I was worried about the Euro's recent comeback, as I have a big trip coming up (17 people with as much as $25,000 in "on the ground" expenses).

Rather than buying Deutschmarks, francs and lira to hedge, buying almost anything on the Nasdaq is probably a better short term strategy.

Even if you have to (had to?) borrow the money, $5000 last Friday could be $7000 before THIS Friday. Better than worrying about currency fluctuations.
