Culture Week in Italy - Can you reserve museums ahead?

I just realized we'll be in Florence and Rome during Italy's Culture Week (may 12-20). While it's great that the state-run museums are free, I read on previous posts to expect long lines. My question: Can you make reservations even though the museums are free?
If no, any tips for visiting at this time?
Thanks!

Yes you can. And do it soon. I tried for the Uffizi Gallery nearly a month in advance for a particular day during Culture week and they only had 4:15 and later!

We have already reserved the Borghese, the Uffizi and the Accedemia museums, not realizing that it was culture week. When we go to pick up our tickets, will we only pay the small charge for the reservation and the entrance is free? What a nice surprise, as long as there`are no strikes!

Yes, you will only pay the applicable reservation fee!
