Since you are wanting your daughter to have an experience that has depth of substance to it, I would suggest that in your two weeks you settle into two locations for a week each--both in Italy. Rent apartments where you can come and go, mingle with the people of whatever town in the piazza, the stores, etc. Take day trips to surrounding villages and walk and explore. Maybe one week in Tuscany and one in Piemonte or Umbria. There are so many wonderful villages to explore--each with its own culture and history. You have many options to think about. If you are wanting history, art and culture then Rome and Florence are to be considered. I blogged our year of living in Italy which might interest you--go back to August 2006 through July 2007 (the rest doesn't pertain to your interests) http://www.janeandken.blogspot.com Have fun planning.
