Cuban cigars in Paris?
 

Does anyone know the location of a tobacconist in Paris that sells Cuban cigars. I will be traveling to Paris for the first time in June and, although I have received Cuban cigars in the past as a gift, being a US citizen I have never had the opportunity to purchase any for myself. I am looking forward to a taste of the forbidden fruit while strolling the Champs Elysees.

I think that they have Cuban cigars at the duty free shops at the Paris airports. In Rome last month, I had some lire to spend, so went into the duty free shop and asked for some good cigars for my husband, bought them, then boarded the plane for the US. In flight, I looked at them, realized they were Cuban, and slipped them into my son's backpack so that I wouldn't get arrested. (Just kidding.) I kept them in my backpack and was ready to explain that I had accidentally bought them, but the customs agents in the US just waved us through. Boy did those cigars taste good!

Do follow Elaine's advive "Any *good* tobacco shop..." I have brought back (smuggled) 5-packs of Cuban's in the past. Last year I was in a Rome tourist *gift shop* and decided on the spur of the moment to buy a box of Cuban's which would be gift wrapped with my other presents. Knowing when I returned home I would impress my friends, relatives, and co-workers by handing out this forbidden fruit:). As usual I got stopped by customs (my appearance) at Boston, answered the questions and went on my way. When outside awaiting my ride (and feeling cool:) and I opened my box of *stale and dried-out* Cuban cigars:(((. So only buy at a *good* tobacconist. Regards, Walter <BR> <BR>

I remember one particularly good store at 22 Avenue Victor Hugo. <BR> <BR>The cheapest way to purchase Cubans is to buy them at the duty free shops at the airport (outbound only), but the supply is hit-or-miss.

There's a La Casa del Habano located at 169 Blvd. St. Germain in the 6th. I purchased a few smokes there last week. The prices were reasonable and the cigars were properly stored. <BR> <BR>-bmh

On Blvd Madeleine and Blvd Haussman there are several good tobacco stores that sell cigars. Word of warning: because of Hurrican Andrew, the tobacco crop that would now be made into cigars was destroyed, so Cubans are hard to find AND outrageously priced (the cigars I bought 5 years ago for $8 each are now over $20). Consequently, a lot of the shops keep their limited supply for their regular customers. Two years ago, there were signs in a couple of windows "No Cubanos". There are cuban cigars in the duty-free shops at the airports, but that sort of defeats the purpose of strolling the Champs Elysees with a Cohiba Esplendido with just the right amount of ash....oh sorry lost myself there for a moment <BR>

Can anyone recommend similar tobacconists in London?
