Cseky Kumlov

Who has been here? What do you think of it? Is it worth a diversion? ANy accomodation recommendations?

Well worth the time. I took a train down and it was pretty scenery all the way. I was there for a day and half and that was enough time. I stayed at a place called Hotel Golden Angel which is right on the main square.

I also stayed in Zlaty Andel (the golden angel) and enjoyed Cesky Krumlov. We arrived by car and spent one day and a half walking aroudn the town and another day and a half or so taking day trips from there. We spent an additional day there staying at Pensione Vlatava for $27 for the night including breakfast the next morning. This place is wonderfully clean, has a large bedroom, entry and private bath with shower and the breakfast was great. Probably the cleanest and cheapest hotel we've ever stayed in. it's also right across the street from the back door to the zlaty Andel. Everything about Cesky Krumlov was fun, enjoyable and pleaseant. See my trip report called Czech Republic Trip Report for more specifics. Go, for sure, You'll love it.

Thanks. Do you have addresses or phone numbers of the lodging? Thanks

Kevin, Yes, loved it. Stayed at Pension Barbakan--do a search under that name.<BR>Paid about $50. Dinner was $7/head.

We loved it & actually extended our stay there. There are many inexpensive places to stay & I can't see that you would need a reservation. A good way to get there is take the train to Ceske Budovice & take a cab from there to the main square. The commuter train for the last 8-10 km is very crowded & stops a lot. There is a good hotel right on the main square that is very inexpensive. If you want to splurge there is one right by the river (the name escapes me) w/a good view as well.

The Pensione Vltava where we stayed for $27 per night can be reached by e-mail at [email protected]. They have a website at www.ckvltava.cz. The proprietors spoke pretty good English and were very friendly and pleasant. The only drawback for us was no elevators and fairly steep steps to drag our heavy bags up. Otherwise you can't get better for the price.

Thanks. Has anyone stayed at Kristina? Their website looks intriguing.

I think it is Kristinka.
