Crossing from Helsinki to Tallinn
I am in the process of booking a trip to Tallinn, and since the only flight available on my dates was the one via Helsinki have decided to stop one night there before getting the ferry across to Tallinn for 4 nights.

Can anyone tell me about the options for crossing to Tallinn?

Are there fast and slow boats?
What are the approximate costs?

Any information you can provide (and any websites with timetables and costs) would be very helpful.

Thank you.

Kavey

Try Nordic Jet Line: http://www-eng.njl.fi/

and Tallink: http://www.tallink.net/eng/

I have used both services and would recommend either. Tallinn is lovely - some would say the 'second Prague'.

Both of these options are either Catamarans or ferries - approximate time 1h30mins if I remember rightly - or you can do the Helicopter ride which looked great.

If you do a google search on Ferries from Helsinki to Tallinn you will get loads of links.

Cost: about 40 euro - so not that cheap but worth it - out of 3 weekends we had in Helsinki (due to business) we spent 2 in Tallinn. I would recommend getting Tallinn in your pocket - the local tourist guide!

Agree with the suggestion of looking up the information in

www.InYourPocket.com

I think Lina Lines are the cheapest--about $20 for a hydrofoil.

It is Linda Lines:

http://www.lindaline.fi/

The schedule is in Estonian but you should be able to read it.

Thank you all!

Will probably post with some additional questions later under a different heading.

THANKS...

Kavey
