Croatia Travelling with a 3 year old

Hey Guys, I’m looking for a bit of help and a good starting point for planning a trip to Croatia at the beginning of June/end of May next year. Probably for about 2 weeks.

We will be travelling from the UK and will have a 3 year old with us so are looking for the best places to go that are child friendly.

I was was toying with the idea of Split/Hvar and that area but am open to suggestions of better places if you have any?

Grateful for any help anyone can offer! Thanks in advance!

As well as Hvar, also consider Brac. Easy to reach by Ferry from Split, takes just under an hour so is half the distance of getting to Hvar.

We stayed here on Brac for a week...

...in April last year. It was a little too boisterous for us, but we still enjoyed it, and Brac is beautiful Island.

You could always have a week on Brac and a week on Hvar. Not too much travelling involved.

We flew with easyJet from LGW. Getting into Split from the Airport is easy by inexpensive shuttle bus, which takes you right to the Port in 30 minutes or so. The Port, main bus station, train station, and Split Old Town are more-or-less in the same location.

What you'll probably find with holiday resort hotels all over Croatia is that they're more themed for Continental /Scandanavian Europeans, I'm not suggesting that's a bad thing, but the chances are if you feel more comfortable in the midst of Brits, then you might be a little disappointed.

A good starting point = the Rough Guide.

Late May / early June is a lovely time to visit Croatia! When you explore your options, note that many ferry schedules change on / about the 1st of June, so be sure you pay careful attention to schedule dates.

Thanks guys.

Would you bother staying in split split at all or just stay a week on HVar and a week on Brac? I notice there’s a ferry that goes from Split-Brac-Jelsa(Hvar) so I guess that makes it easier to get to Hvar.

ive seen suggestions that Jelsa is a good place to stay with a family. Can you comment?

It depends on your interests! Split is my favorite city in Croatia; others don't hold it in the same regard. Even in late May, Hvar Town is too much of a yachters destination for my tastes; others love it. I haven't been to Brac....

I like Split, but it can get swamped when there's a big cruise ship alongside.

The Old Town is great after dark though.
