Croatia, Split to Dubrovnik
I'll be traveling to Croatia in September 2024, and wondered about going from Split to Dubrovnik. We'll plan to drop off our car beforehand and was considering taking the bus.
I've read mostly bad reviews of Flix bus, and also read about taking a more scenic bus that travels along the coast. Can you advise about this and if the bus is a good choice, would you know what bus line it is? thank you |
Go by boat! There are daily ferries. Look up Krilo or Jadrolinja for the route schedule that fits you best.
Edited: I have used Flix bus around Croatia. It was fine. Buses were generally on time. |
Will you go straight from Split to Dubrovnik or do you plan to visit scenic places in between?

With all due respect to Travel_Nerd, I far preferred the bus to the ferry. For me, that bus ride ranks among the most spectacularly scenic I’ve ever experienced. In contrast, I found the ferry pleasant, but not at all special. JMO.
I don’t remember the name of the bus company I used. If it helps, I boarded in Mostar. You might check options on Rome2Rio.com. Sit on the right side. :tu: |
Here you can find bus schedules, some Flix and some not.. a bus is a bus, choose the one that has the best timing for you.
https://www.ak-split.hr/en/ No need to even look until you are way closer to the journey, though. The catamarans don’t save any time and you can’t go outside - but they have a bar, LOL.. if there is bad weather, they do not run, so if you decide to do the boat, always have a back up plan. |

With a bus, they *might* have a 10 or 15-minute stop if you need to use facilities. But often do not and won't let you use the WC on board. But often their schedules do not have much leeway between stops. In the many bus rides I took in the region last year, the only bus ride that had a 10-minute stop was the one between Mostar and Sarajevo. Most of my bus trips were via Flix bus, which was the only "downside" as I had no issues, personally. Do whatever works best for you, OP. There are pluses and minuses with each option. |

No you can't go outside but you can use the WC and get a drink, or sometimes a snack. And walk around the cabin if need to stretch your legs.

thank you, good to know I have a ferry in case the bus doesn't work out.

I'm going direct to Dubrovnik, but would like to see the scenic coastal view from the bus (personal car was not in my budget)
