1. What is the weather like at the end of August - beginning of September?

I was in Serbia this summer from mid-July to early August and it was HOT! Of course, I was told that this was totally atypical but it was 106 and miserable. Of course, I was also staying in a hostel with no A/C so that probably colored my opinion of the miserable factor on the heat too. Otherwise, it was so lovely. I spent two weeks in Novi Sad and hope to return this summer. We also spent a few days in Budapest which I don't see on your itinerary. FYI--it was lovely too.

I was in Croatia in Late Sep, beginning October. Dubrovnik to Zadar along the coast was warm to hot - 26 to 29 degrees C but inland Plitvice Lakes, Zagreb was cold 7deg.

So coastal definitely hot.

Thank you for the replies. My sister and I are thinking of taking my dad to Serbia/Croatia - our ancestors are from Serbia - the last time he was over there was when it was Yugoslavia - so we are currently trying to figure out what country we should visit since there is no longer a Yugoslavia.

We also though about flying into Prague and driving down to Zagreb.
