Croatia - Istria or Slovenia
My wife and i are traveling to Croatia in Late May/ Early June. We have three days to either explore Istria or Slovenia. We will have a car. We will be traveling up the coast with stops in Dubrovnik, Brela, Split, and Plitvice. Our trip will end in Venice where we will fly out. Any Thoughts?

Istria has my vote! There are some magnificent inland villages and towns to discover. Istrian peninsula is a very special location, not to be missed.

Beware of the high drop-off fee if you end your rental in Venice. At that time of year, you can take a ferry across from Istria to Venice. Otherwise, getting to Venice through public transportation by land is bit harder. Three days there would be perfect, especially if you like exploring rural areas. Istria has a different feel from Slovenia, and from other parts of Croatia, with a slight similarity to Tuscany. The area is well worth visiting.

Hmmmm....there's only one of me, don't know what happened there. My apologies.

My vote is Istria, for sure. Look at this: http://jmstudio.fotopic.net/p61923403.html Rovinj is exquisite, with good food and interesting areas to explore nearby.
Same for Motovun and the interior: http://jmstudio.fotopic.net/p61923480.html and http://jmstudio.fotopic.net/p61923483.html |
