Croatia in April?

I'm considering going to Croatia in April and am wondering what will be in store for me as far as temperature, businesses that will be open.

The area I will be in is Opatija and I would like to get down to Dubrovnik. Will it be warm enough to swim? Also how to get to Opatija - fly into Zagreb and get a car?

Any information you have would be welcome.

I went the first 2 weeks in May and wouldn't consider the temps beach weather. It was warm in the daytime but a light jacket/sweater was needed at night.

Opatija and Dubrovnik are tourist destinations and there were plenty of people around and the shops and restos were all open.

Based on my experience late April would be better weather wise than early April.

What do you mean by "warm"? Around 60 or 70 F?

What else is near Opatija? (Any Parks for hiking?) I'd be there for a conference and then would want to tour around.

I have gone swimming in Croatia in early May with absolutely no problem. April temperatures are just lovely in my opinion and experience. A great time to go.

Warm = mid 70s in the daytime and breezy along the water.

I'm not sure about hiking but there is a walking path along the water, part paved and part rocky. There's a small park in town with paths.

Do you know how far Opatija is from Plitvice Park? Ned a car?
