dubrovnik is great
can do a day trip to kotor in montenegro ( take euros for the border) there is a nice fjord there and plenty to see in a day round budva ston is nice too- on the way to split from dubrovnik - cute village trogir is lovely - next to split on the way there is the markarska riviera area too - stony beaches and cafes plitvice is worth the drive - you need only four hours to have a bit of a walk round the lakes and see the waterfalls |
tangwah,
I agree with other posters; you won't want or need a car in Dubrovnik. You can walk or take the bus wherever you want to go. When you go to the Stari Grad (old city), walk the wall. There are incredible sights at every turn. Mostar is an easy day trip and worth it; it's a UNESCO World Heritage site. As the previous poster said, Kotor is also an easy day trip. The Dalmatian coast is heaven on earth. Enjoy your trip and please post about it when you get back! Ellen |
thanks, all. I will write when I get back. with this annoying but fatiguing cold I might just take it easy and chill in Dubrovnik and and island. happy to see the weather holding up there.

tangwah,
I hope your cold is just that, and that it does not turn into something worse. If it should, however, there is a really nice, and efficient hospital in Dubrovnik. My chest problem turned into pneumonia when I was there, and they fixed me up in short order. There was a small charge, but when clerk did not have change for my large Kuna bill she said, "Oh, just forget it, then." That's when I KNEW I was not in the States. :-) |
" I might just take it easy and chill in Dubrovnik"
Take two glasses of wine, relax at The Buza Bar and call me in the morning. Dr. Maitai ((H)) |
I hope you get your cold behind you, tangwah, but if you don't, given the 10-day forecast for Dubrovnik, it might just be what the doctor ordered! (Plus you may not want to leave once you get there, anyway :)
Happy, safe and healthy travels - we'll await your report. Ellen |
