croatia experts - 2 extra days?

My wife and I will be traveling from Hvar to Dubrovnik. In the middle of this trip, we have 2 nights to play with. Does anyone have suggestions for interesting/unique places to stay/see?

We're considering 2 nights in Korcula while also trying to see Miljet.

Are there any other places to consider bw Hvar and Dubrovnik?

Thanks for the help!

How are you getting from Hvar to Dubrovnik? If you're driving, why not just see what appeals to you enroute? Otherwise, you could always extend at one end or the other. How long will you be in Hvar and Dubrovnik?

Someone today said 3 days was enough for Dub

dang!

Someone said 3 days was enough for Dubrovnik. I respectfully disagree. I could have easily spent a week there, with a few excursions.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. We'll be at the mercy of the bus and ferry.

We'll be in Hvar for 4 nights and Dub for 5 nights. We're just looking for something in between (we'll have already been in Trogir and Split.)

Thanks.

Then you could easily stop in Korcula since the ferry stops there. Or you could go from Dubrovnik to Hvar and then add Istria (all by ferry and bus).

what about the Golden Horn near Bol? It's pretty incredible though the best vantage is about half way up the mountain overlooking the Golden Horn. You could hop a ferry from Jelsa to Bol (though very early) - I think there may be boat taxis between Bol and Jelsa also. As for the rest of Brac - I've been reading about monastaries and stone carving schools - the rest of the island sounds interesting. (I've been debating between Vis and Hvar or Brac and Hvar, and I'm leaning towards Brac and Hvar)

roger,

Compared to Dubrovnik's old town, Korcula's pretty laid back -- especially after the cruise ships leave. May be too quiet for some, but we loved it. (see pic)

Korcula if you want to relax.

Hi Roger.
Korcula would be my recommendation.Relaxing and laid back.Maybe a day trip to Mljet...see my response on your previous post. One can take the bus from Korcula to Dubrovnik. It was inexpensive and a change from the ferry.
Have a wonderful time.
Linda

Thanks to everyone who responded. I appreciate your input.

It seems Korcula is the most logical stop. We will be there on June 7 and 8. Is it necessary to book ahead or can we show up and get a good deal on a clean room (we don't require much - just a shower, toilet, and a clean room).

Also... any tips on things to see in Korcula? We may daytrip to Miljet, as well.

Thanks for your help.

Roger
