croatia-drive from Dubrovnik to Plitvice Lakes National Park

By car, what would be the fastest route from Dubrovnik to Plitvice Lakes National Park?
How long will it take? Thanks

we drove the other way from plitvice to trogir
we started at 12 30 from plitvice and had lunch at zadar for an hour and a bit and then got to trogir by early evening-

then next day we took our time along the coast road to dubrovnik and got there late afternoon but we had lots of stops for photos esp at ston
it is a shame to rush such a trip

but the roads are good

you can make good time if there are no jams

E65 to A1 to E71. Maybe 7 hours with limted stops. Or take the coastal route through Split and join the A1 at about Sibenik. Should only add about an hour to the drive. Again if there are no jams.

lanejohann,

Would you recommend a stop or overnight in Zadar?
Thanks
Ken

If you are looking for the fastest route you would not go to Zadar. Try viamichelin for maps, then pick some place about half way--I would choose somewhere inland.

What I would do is drive through Bosnia if my rental contract allowed it.

We did this last year

Dubrovnik to Trogir - about 4 hours
Overnight Trogir
Trogir to Plitvice 2 hours 45 minutes exactly!

Oh, sorry I confused.
I haven't been to Zadar since 2003, at that time I found it a pleasant place. From what I have read it is a city on the rebound, and well worth a visit.

Ok, thanks! I'm trying to decide if I want to add a drive from Italy through Croatia to Venice, or just drive through from Rome to Venice and skip Croatia.

sorry was away Ken so didnt get to see your question til now
zadar is a nice town
nice harbour but i think itd be nice to stay in trogir
that is near split

and a very cute town - beautiful clean harbour and great photo opps for the night time

then again
if you left zadar early and got to plitvice by ten you will have plenty of time

either way
try to see both trogir and zadar and if youre heading to dubrovnik dont miss ston - walk the wall for some great views

lanejohann,
We stopped in Trogir for a few hours last April. I agree it would be worth an overnight visit. Plitvice is also a place we would want to see on our trip. Thanks for getting back to me.
