Drinking lots of water during the flight helps me with jet lag.
When I'm in Paris with someone who hasn't seen the major sights, I like this way of getting around via the Seine.

Cathinjoetown, Thanks for the link to batobus. I've never thought of using them but they sound pretty good and very reasonably priced considering that just a single boat tour is $11- 13. Great suggestion.

There's not a lot of commentary as it's not a sightseeing boat but your ticket lists the stops and each stop is announced with a brief description. It's a combination of open and glass-covered so goid views.

I hated the batobus.. slow, and since we were in good weather , hot, and no commentary , so don't use it as a tour.. plus you go up and down stairs at every stop.
Metro is fast.. literally you go down and your train is no more than 1-3 minutes from arriving.. and off you go.. no worries about heavy traffic.
I am a huge proponent of walking if weather is ok.. its all about really coming across some random sight that way, a little café, a shop with something cute or weird in the window, a peek into a courtyard of an old home..
I hate shopping but even I like to pop into a Monoprix.. I always find one with a food floor and pick up some packaged sauces and boullion cubes ( they have flavors we don't have here, like Court Boullion and Pot au Feu) ,, plus some nice soaps etc.. also if buying chocolate or cookies to take home as lame souvenirs.. then Mono has them cheaper than many other places.
