I've been trying to find that durned painting, CT. Glad you reminded me that I'm going to be there to see it for myself! I found this one, but you said blue and white and fat, so I assume it's not the right one:

Christina and LVSue thanks for the musee information. I had no idea there were two musees with a similar name. Has anyone been to the one outside of Paris? The musee brochure says RER B and shuttle to reach it. What shuttle would that be? LVSue have a wonderful time in Paris, I'm sure your friend will have the best of trips due to your thoughtful planning. Deborah

I have not been to the Abbaye Chaalis which has more of the Jacquemart-Andre collection, but now that I'm reading this, I'm thinking that may be a good day trip for me when I go this summer, as I am looking for new things to do. Also, I'm very interested in Cistercian architecture and this seems to combine that with an art collection, looks like it could be a good trip.

Here are some web sites about it, I think the first two may not be in English:

http://www.ac-amiens.fr/chaalis/

http://www.institut-de-france.fr/pat...is/chaalis.htm

http://www.chateauxandcountry.com/ch...is/struct.html

All I could find out is that from April-Oct, there is a "navette" (shuttle bus) from the CDG RER B stop to this abbaye. I imagine there will be people to ask at the CDG stop where the bus stop is, and there is probably a small fee. I might try that, but it might be more trouble than some want to go to, unless you're looking for new things to see like I am. There is an email address they have, you could write and ask directions and see how they respond:
[email protected]

I found this great page on the Paris TO web site that summarizes all of this info, the ones on the museum card, the ones free 1st Sunday and the City of Paris free ones:

Thanks, all, for being my sounding board and bringing me such useful information! I'm off tomorrow (and I'm kind of "off" todayyI go nuts the day before a trip)! I'll post when I get back.

It sounds like a lot on your list but we were able to do nearly all the things you have mentioned along with a few other fun stops along the way. I'm a lazy one though and hired someone else to do all of the hard work for me. We found a human guide at this site and picked his brain for all the information possible. This left us completely free to gawk at the sites without thinking what would be next, or even how much time we had left. It was a real pleasure to tour while on vacation and not really think or worry - am I lost, where am I going- someone else did all the work for us.
