Crisis with 10 Day Spain Itinerary

Is this a crazy itinerary? I don't want to be exhausted, but I want to see a lot of Spain. Constraints: Fly into Madrid, out of Barcelona.

8/15 Arrive Madrid
8/16 Full Day Marid
8/17 Day Trip to Toledo - Night in Madrid
8/18 Madrid-Granada Flight to see Alahambra
8/19 Train to Seville (3 hr)
8/20 Seville. Night Train to Barcelona
8/21 Barcelona
8/22 Barcelona
8/23 Barcelona
8/24 Leave Barcelona in AM

Would it make more sense to take out Granada? Is Toledo worth 2 days? Is Madrid too much big city (I like quaint and ancient). Should I stick to Madrid and Barcelona and do Sout of Spain some other time?

THANKS!

Frankly, I am sure there will be people who will tell you one day in Seville isn't enough. I think there are basically TWO sites that must be seen in that city, besides the overall architecture, and those are the cathedral and the Alcazar and yes you CAN do those two in one day.

A day trip to Toledo will probably be adequate if you want to see a lot of otyher plces, too.

One full day in Madrid doesn't give you a lot of time but that will depend on what you are interested in. You could easily spend more than one day doing the big three museums and the royal palace.

I think Barcelona is definitely worth three days but again, this all depends upon your interests.

Assume you have ruled out the possibility of a flight from Seville to Barcelona.

This is what I posted to your other message (which you can find if you click on your screen name - zipespurg).

There was no mention in your first message of the Barcelona constraint.

Going only by your statement, I would suggest that you definitely add at least one day in Granada (there is no building more enchanting than the Alhambra, in my opinion, in all of Spain).

Yes, Cordoba is well worth it, for the old Jewish Quarter and the Mezquita, an immense and impressive mosque, with a Christian cathedral dropped into the middle of it.

I don't know Barcelona, but my impression is that it would offer you more city life than quaint cities.

Instead, you might consider day trips to one or more of the other picturesque cities near Madrid: Segovia, Avila, Salamanca - each is wonderful in its own way. (One day in Toledo is enough, I think.)

P.S. I see you've added Granada - I"m glad!

Thanks, saps!

Your "Insane Spain itinerary" thread tells us you want to see a Bulfight and some Flamenco. Your only Sunday stop (for a Corrida de Toros) will be in Sevilla but Sevilla will be too HOT in mid-August and I think most of the better Toreros will have gone further north.

If it were me, I would stay in Sevilla another day and catch the Hotel Tren to Barcelona Monday night (not Sunday). You may even see better Flamenco in Barcelona: lots of gypsies there.
