Crete -- Sail/Snorkel Excursion
 

My family (2 boys 11 &15) and husband are headed to Greece in August for 2.5 weeks. We are splitting our time in Athens (4), Crete (7) and Paros (7). We would like to see about doing a sail/snorkel excursion while on Crete. We already booked a full day hike but would love a day on the water. Any recommendations would be great. Also, open to other great excursions.

We have also booked a sail/snorkel on Paros (Zeppos) which my husband and I did when we were there 2 years ago. First time for the kids.

Finally, any recommendations for a short/appreviated tour of Acropolis/Coliseum/other major landmarks. My husband and I did a full day tour which was great but not sure it would be right for our kids.

Keep a day open when you get to Paros too. Captain Ben, who is based on Antiparos, picks up passengers at Pounta (the small port) for his lazy day trips to beaches, sea caves, and uninhabited islets around Antiparos. Many people have said the day with Captain Ben was the highlight of their trip to Paros.

I am so glad you are going to Greece! Here is my list of recommendations:

1. Athens - Temple of Poseidon - it is outside of Athens but one of my favorite spots. Time it to go at Sunset for some stunning photo opps. It's in Sounion and we took a Taxi, negotiated a rate, and told the driver to wait for us.

2. Crete - Samaria Gorge was a memorable experience, but if you decide to hike it, make sure you're prepared and everyone is in shape enough to do it. Other great Crete experience: Psychro Cave where Zeus was taken to hide from his father in Greek mythology, Chania - the walk to the lighthouse, and the Archaeological Museum in Heraklion
