In Plakias we stayed at a lovely pension with a sea view and a kitchenette called Gio Ma. It had parking and was quite inexpensive. I think I gave you one of our albums but if not here it is again. It will open with our Plakias pictures and Gio Ma.
http://travel.webshots.com/album/559...IlVxI?start=72 On Naxos we stay at Hotel Glaros which is just meters from St George beach. It will run about 60 euros. Other better class hotels at St George are Hotel Spiros about 200 meters from the beach and probably priced the same as Glaros but with a pool. Hotel Galaxy right next door a higher class hotel at about 100 euros and then Naxos Resort Beach hotel an even higher class hotel about 50 meters to the beach around 200 euros. These prices were on a walk up basis in early June last year. If you are interested I have pictures of all of these hotels however we have only stayed at Glaros. I have toured the other hotels so I do know them pretty well. |
Thanks Stanbr! Gio Ma looks quite good! I appreciate the albums as well!
Thinking of Nissaki Beach Hotel for Naxos...looked intriguing on their site and fairly well reviewed..seems to be close to St. George beach which seems like a great location from what you are all telling me... cheers, CC |
Nissaki is by far the best hotel on St George beach. In fact it is right at the beach and actually right next door to Hotel Glaros.
That end of the beach is not the best place for sunning as most people tend to congregate about a couple hundred meters further along. Nissaki does have small German tour groups so you may want to book sooner than later. |
Thanks for everyone's help. I have a clearer idea now of my Crete itinerary (knocking Reythmnon off the list!) and some great ideas for Naxos. Love this board...
