Crete in April (1st to 15th)

We are planning our hiking trip to Crete in the begining of April. Do you think it will be too early? Is this still off season? Are hotels open?
We do not plan to focus on water activities this time.

Any suggestions where to stay in two or three places that would be the best for many hiking opportunities?
Thank you

I haven't been at that time of year, Renee but I think you will be fine

It won't be too early and the weather will be pleasant without being hot.

Crete is an all year round island and tho there are seasonal places- and some of the nightclubs and very toristy place won't be open, you will have no difficulty in finding places to stay.

What sort of places do you like walking? I think that will determine where you stay.

So have a look at www.explorecrete.com- there's a link to the mountain club which might be handy for you

You've probably already read about the Samarian Gorge (11 mi) and plan to hike that one day?
