Crete Falassama Beach

Is the sand really pink?

Marilyn Feb 1st, 2005 12:57 PM

Not as I recall. However, it was my absolute favorite beach on Crete. And it's spelled in various ways, but with an "r" not an "m" -- Falassarna.

Aloha

the sand is not pink
Elafonissos is pink
Falasarna have wind
I stayed just 15 min not more
I stayed 26 nights last year in a suite at Grand Bay Beach Resort and I visit Falasarna
after I go to Corfu Holiday Palace for one week
there I find Halikouna beach very very high
more better then falasarna

Mykoniatis is right. It is Elafonissos that has some pink in the sand and yes you can see it. Falasarna is also a beautiful beach but it had some tar in the sand and you had to watch wear you stepped when I was there. Personally I liked Elafonissos better. The water is warmer as it is shallow.

Yes, it's Elafonissos that has some small amount of pink sand on the beaches, you can wade across.
