Crete - Easter
 

Hello: Wondering if anyone has any advice on where we should stay on Crete during Easter. Do we need to book ahead?

Crete's a big island. Can you give us a hint? Are you looking for a big 5 star resort, or a tiny little inexpensive hotel? Are you looking for staying in Chania, or do you want to be in the "resort" area of Eloundra, or do you want to be on the south coast? How long are you staying and what do you plan to do there?

I've never been to Greece (would love to go, as I have been told I have family in Crete. Ahh someday!) Just wondered if Easter celebrations there have a major impact on any tourist activities/hotel reservations, etc?

We were in Chania last year. It was ace. Lots of places aren't yet open for the season and the flights are full o people going home.

We would prefer to be somewhere small and inexpensive, but I'm concerned that since this is such a family oriented holiday that we may end being pretty isolated, with not alot to do. Your thoughts? The south coast would also be our preference...hoping for warmer weather!!

OK, a bit more. I tend not to saty in hotels, so... take with a pinch of salt. Off season most places are reasonably priced. Crete is busy at Easter but with locals coming home, rather than hotel users. So many hotels aren't open.

ther was plenty to do. Easter Sunday was idiosyncratic in Chania and I'm sure it would be the same anywhere. like Christmas Day in London.

I'd aim for Paleochora (but then, I'd do that any day of the year). Go and ask the question on Explorecrete.com and ask Hooray Henry what he thinks. I think you'll love it.
