Beg to differ, Robespierre, we were not charged any transaction fee for our Cap One credit card usage but then again I guess I should have clarified that we never ever used it as an ATM card.

Slight change of subject. My AAA credit card was with MBNA. Bank of America bought out MBNA. Does anybody have any recent experience with using AAA Visa cards overseas?

BOA soaks me 3%, so I got a Capital One card for Europe. BUT!! I like to have a backup, and to get the rental car discount, I need to use my AAA card, so I am told. (That statement is subject to verification and a "second opinion", however.)

I have asked MBNA, but the new landlord has not yet spoken about the details. The new telephone people don't know what the duece I am talking about when I call and ask.

That's incorrect. Many banks don't charge transaction fees (see this thread).

This past week I used my Bank of America card for 3 international transactions and I was charged a fee. When I travel I will not be using the card; I use my debit and as of yet have not been charged a separate transaction fee.

Robespierre: Wow are you angry at me? Sorry for sounding so exacting in my first comment but really I was under the impression the Cap One WAS the ONLY card without a transaction fee.

I guess what I should have said was it was the only one out of the 3 that we brought with us that did not charge us a transaction fee.....
