Cpoenhagen, stockholm, St Peterburg and Moscow Hotels needed

Hi all!

Normally I would never ask anyone on this board "where to stay" as I am perfectly capable of finding lodging.

However...

DH has indicated he wants to go to the above cities for next summer's trip and I would like to begin my research efficently . Since this is the very first posting for me for in these areas, I just wanted a point in the right direction.

As many of you know we travel on the luxury side, however, perusing some of the prices already, it does indeed seem the hotel prices are a bit high here.

I am looking for hotels rooms with a budget of about $400 per night ( a bit more is fine too).

I am thinking in Denmark I would like a "design" hotel, something on the hip side, and for the rest of the locations either grand and luxurious is fine or hip and modern. All should be centrally located in walking distance of
atractions.

I'll get more into my plans later and will come back with specific questions, but for now, just a small push to the hotel scene would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a mil....

For an upscale design hotel in Copenhagen you might want to look into the First Hotel Sankt Petri.
I haven't stayed there (I usually stay at a 3* design hotel by the name of The Square which I happen to like a lot), but I have been inside the lobby and have seen pictures of the rooms - both impressions were rather appealing. The location of Sankt Petri is very central, yet quiet, as it's a few steps from the Ströget pedestrian zone.

Of course, there's always the Radisson SAS Royal Hotel, allegedly the world's first design hotel dating back to the 1960ies and featuring Arne Jacobsen design. However, it is not exactly roomy. Personally I therefore prefer The Square which is just a few steps from it but offers a better value IMHO.

I have been to all of those cities, most recently in St. Petersburg (May 2006) and Stockholm (Summer 2004).

For St. Petersburg, I stayed at the Grand, and I think its the best choice, and really the only choice.

In Stockholm, I stayed at the Grand and Bern's, and I preferred Berns -- rates are great in the Summer.

Forgot to add that there is also the new Hotel Front in Copenhagen (formerly the Sophie Amalie). It is on my list of places where I'd like to stay and appears to be a modernly styled 4 star. It has a waterfront location and certainly is in the thick of things.
