Nope, can't go to that many places but plenty to choose from. ;)

Thanks FrenchMystiqueTours- you have a plethora of experience in travel in France. The pics are very good.
Thanks Christina. |
If still interested in Auxerre, there are a number of pictures in my Burgundy river cruise album at https://goo.gl/photos/VEdpsmD9fPuSWRhKA (When clicking on a picture, be sure to also click on the lower case "i" in the white circle to see the captions for more information.)

I second FM choices - the places I've been to that he mentions are charming, I've bookmarked the others.
I especially loved Senlis and Pierrefonds. Compiegne is nice too. From there don't forget to visit the clairiere at Rethondes, where Germans signed the end of WW1. |
Compiegne would be my pick. Has anyone biked into the forest to visit The Armistice Memorial? I think that is what we plan to do next trip weather permitting. You can rent them in Comiegne. An hour by train from Paris or easier for you with an auto. We were thinking of spending a night or two there. It looks beautiful.

I was just in Compiegne a couple weeks ago, and as a word of warning, you can only visit the automobile museum (at the palace) by appointment. At least, you need a guided tour and have to make a reservation for it. I had no idea and when I was there around 11 am, they didn't have any free all day until around 3-4 pm and I couldn't stay that long. It wasn't any special day, either, but it was a weekend day, Sat or Sunday.
The website warns you about this in small print, apparently because most of it is closed due to ongoing work. So maybe I didn't miss much, anyway. |
